How to Use Your Hayya Card for Tickets and Transportation: My Lusail Super Cup Experience
To date, there seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the Hayya Card - how to apply, what is needed for approval, how to use it, etc. In this post, I will assume you have an approved Hayya Card and will take you step-by-step through how to use your Hayya Card to enter Qatar, access transportation, and enter the stadium based on my experience at the Lusail Super Cup.
Entry Permit
Effective November 1, 2022, through January 23, 2023, entry into Qatar will be restricted to Hayya card holders, residents, and nationals of Qatar. During this period, wherever you would normally show your visa - you will open the Hayya app and show your Entry Permit. On approximately October 1, 2023, you will receive an email with a copy of your Entry Permit that you can print in case you lose your phone or cannot access the Hayya app. Because the Lusail Super Cup was on September 9, 2023, I entered Qatar by following regular immigration rules and procedures.
Transportation Access
The Hayya app provides point-to-point transportation assistance. Currently, If you open the Hayya app, you can view routes and available transportation options for the requested date. For example, on the morning of the Lusail Supe Cup, I checked the available transportation options from my hotel to Lusail Stadium.
I began by opening the Hayya app and clicking on the location/transportation button.
Then I entered the location, destination, and mode of travel. For convenience, all the stadiums are preset destinations.
Then I selected one of the available routes.
And the route guidance was provided.
Select “go,” and the live directions begin.
Stadium Entry
After arriving at the stadium, you will use the Hayya app to verify your identity and display your ticket. Depending on the Covid-19 requirements at the time, you may also need to access the EHTERAZ app. The following was the procedure for entering Lusail Stadium for the Lusail Super Cup
At the outer security check, we had to display the following in order: 1. Health Status from EHTERAZ app, 2. Hayya Card, and 3. Game ticket
NOTE: A few hours before the game your ticket on the Hayya app will change from the static display to a QR code that can be scanned to enter the stadium.
After the outer security check, you will be in the stadium perimeter. This is where the Fan Zone activities will be, and presumably the designated area for beer sales.
Then at the stadium gate, you will again present your Hayaa card, and the ticket will be scanned again. (photography restricted for security reasons)
At this point, you will finally enter the stadium.
